Video
Couplers allow the integration of video cameras and digital still cameras
to virtually any microscope. The same image that appears through your
microscope eyepiece can be seen on a video monitor or recorded by a digital
camera, using a Thales Optem Video Coupler and your camera.
Video microscopy can be used for training (multiple observers) or capturing
images for publishing in reports or technical papers. Analysis, archiving
and comparison are other applications.
Thales Optem Video Couplers can be quickly and easily fitted onto any
microscope and are compatible with a wide variety of cameras.
The following types of Video Couplers are offered to mount many types
of video cameras and consumer digital cameras to a variety of microscopes.
Digital Camera Coupling for Nikon Coolpix® Cameras
(Optimized for Nikon CoolPix ® Cameras)
These Digital Camera Couplers have been designed for optimal
performance with Nikon CoolPix Cameras. Also adaptable to a
range of other brand/ model digital cameras. Ideal for fast and affordable
microscopic imaging.
Universal Digital Camera Coupler for a variety of
Digital Cameras
Designed to interface with most any digital camera, providing quick and
easy digital imaging.
CP5000 Thread Adapter

Direct "D" Couplers
Best for use with most modern, full size microscopes, with removable triocular
tube components, yielding access to the intermediate image plane. These
take up minimal space, and are compatible with "C" mount and
bayonet mount cameras.
Large Format "LF" Direct Couplers
These produce appropriately higher magnification values required by larger
camera formats, vis, 28mm to 37mm maximum sensor dimension.
Standard "S" Couplers
Best for microscopes without trocular tubes, or older, simpler microscopes
with photo ports that accept photo eyepieces. They can also accept standard
21mm reticles, "C" mount and certain bayonet mounts are available.
All Standard Couplers are focusable.
High Resolution "HR" Couplers
Superior to Direct and Standard Couplers in three ways:
- Will handle considerably larger image emerging from modern, large
field microscopes, at magnifications lower than Direct or Standard Couplers.
- Can increase optical resolution in the image at the camera sensor,
taking advantage of cameras with higher pixel count.
- Increased image brightness of 100% or more.
High Resolution Telecentric "HRT" Couplers
Same as HR type, except specially designed for use with 3-CCD camera.
Both HRT and HR types are made with "T" threads, so they can
be equipped with all common video and photographic camera bayonet mounts,
and "C" mounts, using suitable adapters.
Multi-port "M" Couplers
These provide two "C" mount outputs for using two cameras, either
simultaneously or one at a time. Certain models can accept one "C"
mount camera and a Photo Micrographic Camera system.
NIKON "N" Low-Profile Couplers
For use with Eclipse E400, E600 and E800 series microscopes, producing
a very low profile set-up.
C-to-C Mount Couplers
These are Standard Couplers configured for attachment to a male, 1X "C"
mount on a microscope.
C-to-Bayonet Mount Couplers
These are Standard Couplers configured for attachment to a male, 1X "C"
mount on a microscope.
